How to type Odia with English letters
The tool is phonetic. Small letters give the softer sounds and capital letters give the heavier ones. These examples show most of what you need.

Good to know: a word that ends in a consonant gets a halant, so ram becomes ରମ୍. Type the final a to keep the vowel (kamaLa gives କମଳ). Put English words in curly braces, like {WhatsApp}, and they stay as typed. Use _ to stop two letters from joining, and | for the Odia full stop ।

Typing tool questions
Is this a real Odia keyboard?
It is a phonetic converter. You type with the English keyboard and the tool produces Odia Unicode, so there is nothing to install.
Why do I need capital letters?
Odia has pairs of sounds that English letters do not separate. Small letters give the dental sounds (t, d, n) and capital letters give the retroflex ones (T, D, N), which is how many Odia typing tools work.
Does it work offline or on my phone?
It works on phones, tablets and computers. After the page has loaded, the conversion itself needs no internet connection.
Is my text saved anywhere?
No text is sent to our servers. Your last draft is kept only in your own browser so you can come back to it, and the Clear button removes it.
Can I use the text in government forms and documents?
Yes. The output is standard Unicode, which Word, Google Docs, WhatsApp and most online forms accept. If a portal needs a legacy font, check its instructions first.
